This Himalayan salt plate from Charcoal Companion can be used for cooking or serving great food. Contrary to popular belief, these salt plates will not leave our food tasting over-salted as they are intended for quick cooking foods as opposed to 'low-and-slow' foods.
It gets its beautiful pink colour from the minerals that have been infused in it over time - manganese, magnesium, iron and zinc. Surprisingly, these salt blocks are great at holding heat and work similar to a griddle in that the heat is even right across the block.
They have many other uses as well. It can be used in place of a brick when making spatch-cocked chicken simply by heating the plate and puting it on top of the splayed chicken.
