Let’s be honest: that old wood-burning fireplace in your living room probably has a lot of character. We get the appeal of the crackle and the nostalgia. However, if your fireplace is acting more like a giant, soot-covered straw that sucks expensive warm air out of your house, it might be time for an intervention. Instead of providing warmth, it is likely replacing your comfort with a chilly draft that makes everyone grumpy.
If you still love the wood-burning life, we totally get it. But if you have reached the point where hauling logs through the snow feels more like a chore than a charm, we can help. At Barbecues Galore, we have been helping Canadians ditch the drafty hole in the wall lifestyle since 1979. Whether you are looking for a sleek electric fireplace or a high-performance gas fireplace, we are here to turn your home into a sanctuary where you can actually take a breath without catching a chill.
Finding the right fireplace for your home
We are not just filling a hole in your wall. We are helping you create a cozy centerpiece for your home. Our showrooms are packed with the industry’s brightest sparks (literally):
- Electric: If you want a stunning visual without the gas lines, check out the New Forest line from British Fires, or the GE3 and GE4 inserts from Valor. These are convenient to install, easy to control, and they look absolutely fantastic in any living space.
- Gas: For the serious heat-seekers, we carry the heavy hitters like Napoleon and Valor. From linear and multi-sided units to freestanding stoves that fit into those weird basement corners, we’ve got you covered.
The Barbecues Galore difference: Our expert services
When we walk into your home, we know we are being trusted with your comfort and peace of mind. That is why we use our own in-house licensed gas installers rather than outside contractors. Every connection and adjustment matters because we take pride in doing things right.
Converting a wood fireplace is a precision craft. We recently filmed our team in action to show you the step by step journey of a professional installation.

In the video, you will see our team walk through the essential steps of a professional fireplace installation:
- Arrival and understanding the job: Every connection, check, and adjustment matters because we are being trusted with your home.
- Protecting the home: We start by laying down drop sheets to keep your space tidy before we dismantle the old unit.
- Safety First (Gas Line Checked): Our licensed gas fitters run the lines and ensure everything is up to code. This includes disabling old gas log lighters if your home has one.
- Out with the old and cleaning the area: We dismantle the old fireplace and recommend a chimney sweep to remove creosote, which is the corrosive soot buildup that often looks like flaking paint.
- Ready for the roof work: Our team goes up on the roof to remove the old cap and slither dual stainless steel venting tubes down your chimney. One tube provides fresh air for the fireplace while the other channels exhaust out.
- The new fireplace goes in: We join the steel liners to the top of the fireplace engine, such as the Valor G3.5, and ensure the connections are properly sealed so it can breathe correctly.
- Finishing the details: This is where the custom look you selected during the purchasing stage comes to life. Whether you picked logs, rocks, or glass media, and a modern or traditional trim, we install those final pieces to match your specific style.
- Client training: We do not just pack up and leave. Our installers will show you exactly how to operate your new fireplace and remote so you can enjoy your comfort immediately.
