Carolina Mustard Sauce Recipe
Whip up a batch of this goodness for all of your chicken, pork, and saucy needs. It’s especially good on a pulled pork sandwich, just sayin’.
Carolina Mustard Sauce
2 tablespoons butter
¾ cup yellow mustard
1/3 cup honey (you know what kind of honey to use…)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
½ cup apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons hot sauce (we like tabasco or Louisiana hot sauce)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Step 1: Assemble your ingredients.
Step 2: Place the butter in a saucepan over medium heat and melt it. The butter, not the saucepan.
Step 3: Add the mustard to the melted butter and mix. Keep the saucepan on the stove, the heat will help everything blend together.
Step 4: Stir in the honey and mix until smooth.
Step 5: Add the brown sugar and smush it until it’s all broken up and melted (or dissolved. Yeah, dissolved.).
Step 6: Stir in the apple cider vinegar. Ignore the disgusting “smelly old foot” aroma – it’ll go away.
Step 7: Add the hot sauce and Worcestershire and stir it up! Little darlin’, stir it up!
Step 8: Add the ketchup and mix is all the globby bits. Also the salt and pepper – they can be thrown in there too.
Step 9: Just in case your mixing skills aren’t up to par, break out a whisk and give the concoction a good stir. A clumpy sauce is a gross sauce.
Step 10: Transfer the sauce to a jar or a bowl or a container of some sort.
