Recipe of The Month: Za'atar Burger Recipe

Makes 4  
1 pound extra lean ground beef
2 tablespoons za’atar
½ small yellow onion, diced
¼ cup bread crumbs
1 clove garlic, smashed and minced
1 large egg
1 teaspoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon black pepper
Rice, quinoa, or hamburger buns  
serve  with chopped fresh parsley  
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ small yellow onion, halved
½ teaspoon za’atar  

Assembly your Ingredients

Step 1: Assemble your Zaatar Burger ingredients, and preheat and clean grill.
Combine hamburger ingredients in a bowl and mix

Step 2: Place ground beef, za’atar, diced onion, bread crumbs, garlic, egg, lemon juice, and pepper in a large bowl.  Mash it up.
Create your patties

Step 3: Divide mixture into four patties. Aww… look how nice they look. Place the burgers on the preheated grill over medium heat.

Step 4: MAKE THE SAUTEED ONIONS: While the burgers are cooking, slice up that onion.
Make the sauteed onions

Step 5: Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat and add the onions and za’atar. Your house is about to smell very tasty.
Flip burgers after about 5 minutes on the grill

Step 6: BURGERS: After about 5 minutes, or when the burger starts getting juicy on top, flip it. Flip it good.
Cook onions till they begin to brown

Step 7:  BACK TO THE ONIONS: Cook the onions until they’re translucent and beginning to brown. (See what we mean about your house smelling good?)
After another 5 mins take burgers off the grill

Step 9: NOW BACK TO THE BURGERS: When they’re all done, take ‘em off the grill. 
Put burger on top of rice or quinoa with onions and chopped parsley
Step 10: Place the burgers in a bun, on rice, quinoa, or whatever the heck you want. Top with sautéed onions and chopped parsley, and enjoy!
