Recipe of The Month: Spiced Coffee Rub Recipe

This spiced coffee rub recipe is really easy to throw together and tastes great on beef, chicken, or pork. One batch easily makes enough for about 6-8 steaks, so go ahead and store any leftovers in an airtight container for a couple of months; that way you’ll have it on hand for last-minute grilling.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons fine ground coffee (freshly ground is best)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger

Assemble your ingredients. You’re not actually cooking with the beer, pictured, so much as just drinking it. Enjoy.

Place all of your ingredients in a bowl

Place all of your ingredients in a bowl. I know, it’s tough, but try your hardest.
Use your fingers to mix the ingredients together

Use your fingers to mix the ingredients together. Really get in there and rub them between your fingers to break up the brown sugar, otherwise you’ll just have big clumps of sugar and spice – not so nice.

Sprinkle the spice mix on the meat you’re cooking and rub it in. Rub it in good.
Sprinkle the spice mix on the meat you’re cooking and rub it in. Rub it in good. Get in every nook and cranny, and make the rub become one with the meat. Ohhh yeah.

Throw it on the grill, and let caramelization take place.
