Traditional meatloaf is delicious: you get juicy ground beef with a delicious tomato sauce, but, have you ever thought to yourself, "How can meatloaf become better? Is it even possible?" The answer is yes, by stuffing it and smoking it.
Smoked Italian Meatloaf Ingredients:
- 2 lbs Ground Beef (Lean or Extra Lean)
- 6 Slices of Cooked Ham (sandwich Sliced)
- 4 ½ Slices of Monterey Jack Cheese
- 5 Tbsp Worcestershire
- 2 Tbsp Prairie Smoke & Spice Blue Ribbin' Sweet Sauce
- 2 Eggs lightly beaten
- ¾ Cup Italian Breadcrumbs
- 2 Tbsp Dried Parsley
- 2 tsp Salt
- 3 tsp Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tbsp Onion Powder
- 2 Tbsp Prairie Smoke & Spice Steak Shake
INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1: Get your smoker up to 300°F.
STEP 2: Grab a large bowl and add ground beef, Worcestershire, Blue Ribbin' sauce, and beaten eggs.
STEP 3: Mix all ingredients until evenly blended (get in there and use the best mixing tool - your hands).
STEP 4: Now add your dry ingredients to the mixture: Italian breadcrumbs, dried parsley, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Steak Shake.
STEP 5: Blend with your hands evenly until the meat pulls away from the bowl cleanly (leaving no bits and pieces behind).
STEP 6: On top of cellophane or parchment paper, shape meat into an flat oval (kind of like a long meat pancake).
STEP 7: Place sliced ham on top of the ground beef evenly, but leaving the edges of the beef layer exposed (this is how you'll see your meat loaf).
STEP 8: Now, add cheese slices on top of the ham - don't be afraid to get generous with the cheese!
STEP 9: For the fun part: pick up one end of the meat and start to roll it like a big ground beef sushi roll. Once rolled, pinch any seams and form a nice log shape. Tip: moisten your hands with cold water to help shape.
STEP 10: Place onto smoker and cook for 2.5 hours, or even more accurately, until the internal temperature of the ground beef is 165°F.
STEP 11: Enjoy the cheesy, smoky goodness of a meatloaf you've never tried before.
